Calling all engineers, tinkerers, and programmers! The SHS Robotics Team will be hosting our 3rd annual Robotics Day. Students entering 8th - 12th grade can come and get a taste of what it's like to solve problems using robots. At the conclusion of the event, teams will put their creations to the test in competition with a chance to win cool prizes. The event will be on Sunday, September 10th, from 8am-6pm. No prior experience is necessary! Participation is free, and pizza will be provided.

Due to the weather forecast and the potential for hazardous morning road conditions, all Somerville and Branchburg Schools will operate on a delayed opening schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, February 28, 2023. You may access school hours on the district website or below.
Please note that all before school clubs and activities will be canceled, including before school care at Van Derveer.
If conditions remain dangerous for travel in the morning, a decision to close schools for the full day will be made before 7:00 am.

Latinos Unidos was a success. Thank you to Mrs. Wahba, our staff, and students for working with the NJEA Latino Institute to encourage families to be involved in their childrenโs education, enhance their academic progress, and feel welcome in our schools.
Mrs. Caporale welcomed classes into the library for World Read Aloud Day. During period 4, she read aloud "This Is A School" by John Schu, and then students in the Teachers of Tomorrow class read aloud with the Life Skills class.
Van DerVeer started World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) today by welcoming Rebecca Gardyn Levington for a virtual author visit! She read her book "Whatever Tomorrow Brings" and then answered some questions about her life as an author.
